• BUSINESS and TECHNOLOGY TRENDS
This is a full day workshop aimed at identifying the trends in business and technology. The day would show the evolution of the platform to the strong focus today on mobile devices. The afternoon session would focus on the use of technology in different industries. By profiling different sectors, attendees will get an idea of how technologies are being utilized in such sectors as the defence industry, the life sciences sector and the growing activity in environmental and renewable energies. Discussions will also include how the technology worker can target their skill sets towards a non-technology company or industry. The workshop would highlight the local labour market. This workshop is intended for engineers, software developers, project managers, network administrators including individuals with extensive or limited experience levels.

 

• LABOUR MARKET INFORMATION
This full day workshop would focus predominantly on the labour market from the job seeker’s perspective. It would show how to utilize case studies and job postings as job seeking tools. There would be a strong emphasis on the local labour market by focusing on an overview of local business activity highlighting selected local companies and the types of contracts they are being awarded.

 

• RESUME STRATEGY FOR THE TECHNOLOGY WORKER
  This workshop will explore content of a technology resume and highlight how to customize it according to a targeted potential employer or opportunity.  The client will be provided current and up-to-date information regarding the Tech-resume and its inherent challenges with an ever-changing industry.  Transferable skills will be focused on and the packaging and presentation of these skills in the written word will be a focus of this workshop

• BEHAVIORAL INTERVIEWS
Many companies use behavioral interviews to allow candidates to demonstrate competencies critical to success in the role they are interviewing for.  Being prepared for a behavioral interview can give job seekers a clear advantage in an employment competition.

• IT CONSULTING
  The information technology sector has clearly adopted the consulting / services business model.  It is important for the ICT job seeker to be equipped with the proper knowledge and strategies to be able to react to this new labour force trend.

• GOVERNMENT CONTRACT CONSULTING
  Within the Ottawa area many consulting opportunities can be found within the Government of Canada. This workshop will provide information, resources and strategies to knowledge workers interested in entering this market.

• THE SECURITY CLEARANCE PROCESS
  For some ICT job seekers, security clearance has become an employment barrier. This workshop will inform clients on the various levels of security clearances required for employment and their respective classifications regarding residency time in Canada.  The employer requirements of the clearances will also be explored as to their customer requirement.
